Toto (real name: Ahmad Solichin) is a realist painter who has been in the art industry since 2001. Born in Semarang, Indonesia, Toto who used to have a steady career in banking for 7 years, decided to turn to painting because he thought that pursuing his real passion is the best thing for him.
For his paintings, Toto was inspired by the healthy lifestyle that he’s practicing in his daily life. He thinks that when doing art, it’s not just about painting but also about how he carries himself. In his spare time, he always exercises at the gym. In addition to health benefits that he gets from that, he can also maintain his fitness and athletic body.
The relation between painting and health, according Toto, is very strong. When he paints, he tries to create a realistic work that he expresses through the paintings. Meanwhile when he exercises, he creates the realistic work through his body. He said that one activity compliments the other, and he feels more productive in painting when he is healthy and fit.
Toto believes that healthy lifestyle helps his activity as a painter. He said “Art is a piece of work that I can feel and enjoy. Art is also how I express the realistic work that I want to make. As an artist, I want to make each of my work better”
